Marine Rescue Technologies have announced the contract, which will see the global leader in commercial man overboard devices, supply submariner escape beacons and services in order to support and maintain the equipment for the Canadian submarine fleet. The purchase includes beacons, training and service solutions for the fleet to maintain their equipment throughout its lifecycle.
MRT COO Ryan Pettit commented: "We are very pleased that after the successful rollout of pilot units last year, MRT has been selected for a fleet wide rollout of our technology. This is a strong validation of the quality and performance of our products, and sets us well for further prospects throughout all NATO Submarine Fleets. We were able to provide additional services to meet the strict requirements that are needed to maintain the equipment ensuring no disruption to fleet operations.”
Designed specifically for submarine escape, the V200 can transmit GPS coordinates via AIS, VHF DSC and VHF voice message to pinpoint the location of casualties following subsurface escape or abandonment.
The GNSS enabled multi-transmitter Beacon is designed to be integrated with standard NATO Submarine Escape Immersion Equipment. It is waterproof to over 300m and capable of withstanding the varying external pressures exerted during an escape from depth and rapid ascent to the surface.
Ryan continues “Our investment in technology and servicing infrastructure is very important to our customers who demand comprehensive solutions that meet their unique needs. This is one such case and, why having the flexibility and versatility of providing a bespoke turnkey offering, remains a key driver within our industry.”
