We are delighted to announce that we have officially partnered with the brilliant marine conversation charity, Sea-Changers to set up a new innovation fund, from 2021.
The new innovation fund will specifically seek to encourage the development of innovative projects and solutions to tackle and mitigate marine conservation challenges such as pollution, climate change and unsustainable fishing practices.
MRT will initially donate £2,000 to the charity to set up the innovation fund. Ryan Pettit, Director & CEO, Marine Rescue Technologies said, “As a company renowned for our own product innovations, and with a marine-based product range, this partnership with Sea-Changers is a great fit. We are delighted to be part of this project which will encourage new thinking and exciting ideas from individuals and businesses in order to help tackle the problems being faced by the marine environment”
Helen Webb, Co-Founder of Sea-Changers said: “We love the idea of a specific Innovation Fund, to run alongside our main grants programme. Whilst the grants we give out have, in the past, funded innovative solutions; the idea of this new fund is positively to encourage new thinking and fresh ideas to help tackle marine conservations challenges around the UK.”
We will be working closely with Sea-Changers over the coming months in order to finalise the details and the new fund will be open to applications in early 2021, with details about the application process to be made available on the Sea-Changers website when it is officially launched next year.
Sea-Changers was established as a charity in May 2011, with the sole purpose of raising funds for UK marine conservation projects. Since then, individuals and businesses all around the country have been joining a growing body of #SeaChangers, keen to get behind this important cause and protect the seas around the UK.
