We’ve introduced two flexible servicing options to improve the user experience and make maintaining your sMRT products more convenient:
- Flexible Recertification Plan – For those seeking maximum operational assurance, this option provides annual servicing at approved sMRT Service Centres, with a one-year warranty extension each time the device is serviced or the battery is replaced.
- Self-Certification Option – For added convenience, users can now independently monitor and manage their devices using the sMRT Beacon Management app. With this option, a battery replacement will be required every five years extending the warranty by one year.
What is the Flexible Recertification Plan?
This plan offers peace of mind by combining professional servicing with warranty extensions:
- Choose when to send your beacon to an approved sMRT Service Centre for recertification to ensure your device is ready for use.
- Each service or battery replacement adds a one-year warranty, giving you ongoing confidence in your device’s reliability.
What is the Self-Certification Option?
The self-certification option enhances flexibility and independence for users:
- Monitor device status, battery health, and fault alerts using the sMRT Beacon Management mobile app.
- Conduct self-testing to assess your beacon’s status.
- Replace the battery every five years to ensure reliability and gain an additional one-year warranty.
Is annual recertification still recommended?
Yes. While the new options provide added convenience, annual recertification is still the best choice for customers operating in critical safety environments, such as the commercial marine and offshore sectors. This ensures your device meets the highest standards of reliability.
Are there any products excluded from these changes?
Yes. Products in the AU range (variants AU9, AU10, and AU11) will continue to require annual recertification due to the specialist components used in their design, as well as ATEX product variants.
How often do I need to replace the battery?
The product has a battery life span of fives years, therefore batteries must be replaced every five years by an Authorised sMRT Service Partner. Once replaced you will receive a new one-year warranty extension, ensuring your device continues to deliver reliable safety performance.
What is the sMRT Beacon Management app, and how does it help users?
The sMRT Beacon Management app is designed to simplify device management by allowing you to:
- Monitor battery levels and fault status in real time.
- Conduct quick self-tests to ensure your device is operating correctly.
